Making The Most Of Every Acre

We know land is a valuable resource that can meet many needs. Our Land Resources team is on an ongoing quest to find new opportunities to use our land more efficiently while our trees grow, providing alternative energy sources, recreational opportunities and non-timber products.

We see more than trees on our land: we see opportunities. The Land Resources team, a small group of entrepreneurs and innovators, is solely focused on identifying businesses that can improve lives and — at the same time — Rayonier’s value. We break our diverse mix of businesses into three categories:

Hunting and Recreation

Spanning virtually every acre in Rayonier’s U.S. ownership, our premium Hunting and Recreation program gives individuals and hunt clubs exclusive hunting, fishing and recreational rights to a property through a license for a set period of time. Our customers include hunters seeking deer, elk, turkey, wild boar and other game; fishing enthusiasts; and outdoor recreation seekers.

Minor Forest Products

While the timber grows, the minor forests products businesses are a complementary use of the land. Minor forest products include pine straw for landscaping, palmetto berries for men’s health products and salal for flower arrangements, to name a few. Other businesses in this category include licenses for beekeepers to maintain apiaries on our secure, accessible land, as well as cell towers and billboards.

Minerals and Energy

Rayonier land, located in close proximity to strong market demand, is ideal for Minerals and Energy businesses, including sand and gravel, oil and gas, fill dirt, mineral sands, and renewable energies such as solar and wind. We work closely with third parties to create these business opportunities across our land base while maintaining our commitments to sustainable forestry and environmental stewardship.

More than 2.1 million acres of Rayonier land are available for hunting and recreation in the United States in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Texas, Oregon and Washington.
