Value From The Ground Up™
Smaller wood operations that really add up

While Rayonier's core businesses are global in scope, smaller wood product operations are also part of our business model.

Our expertise and efficiencies in lumber practices are maximized through the opportunity to sell lumber, logs, wood chips and other byproducts. Our wood products division is SFI certified, just like our timber practices.

Lumber
Headquartered in Baxley, Ga., our Southeast Wood Products business includes three lumber mills in Georgia. These mills, located in Baxley, Swainsboro and Eatonton, typically sell lumber for construction or for processing into pressure-treated wood or roof trusses.

Log Trading
Our Log Trading business purchases and markets between 115,000 and 230,000 tons of timber each year. These logs are purchased from Washington State, city, county and tribal forests as well as private sale offerings. We then market our log purchases for use in domestic lumber mills throughout western Washington for whole log chip facilities and for specialty products, such as transmission poles, peelers and cedar salvage.

Wood Procurement
Our Southeast Wood Procurement operation purchases the wood needed to run Rayonier’s mills. We source or buy the wood from suppliers located throughout our markets to ensure the lowest market price. To help meet the demands of our mills, Rayonier owns four strategically located chip mills in Offerman, Eastman, and Barnesville, Ga., and in Jarratt, Va.  The chipped wood is delivered quickly via rail and trucks. Consistently and cost-effectively procuring timber for our mills is another way we create value.
