Regeneration

Rayonier operates its own tree nursery in Glennville, Ga., and annually produces over 25 million seedlings derived from genetically-improved planting stock. Established in 1956, the nursery has produced nearly one billion tree seedlings.

At Rayonier's Washington seed orchard, silviculturists work to improve the genetic quality of our seedlings by selecting the fastest growing, locally adapted trees to produce seed. That seed is grown for two to three years in a nursery for reforestation of Rayonier lands.

In the U.S. Pacific Northwest, we have hand-planted more than 100 million trees since the 1940s. Almost all planting in the region must be done by hand.

In the U.S. Southeast, we have planted more than 950 million trees since the 1950s. Almost all planting in the region is done by mechanical planters.
