Sustainable Sourcing Policy
Rayonier is committed to support sustainable forestry practices in areas where we procure logs as raw materials for sale to end-use customers. We are committed to operating in conformance with one of the following chain of custody certifications depending on operating geography and market requirements: Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification (PEFC) Chain-of-Custody, Sustainable Forestry Initiative® (SFI®) Fiber Sourcing and Chain-of-Custody, or Forest Stewardship Council® (FSC®) Chain-of-Custody and Controlled Wood standards when procuring wood.
This policy applies to Rayonier and its subsidiaries.
Rayonier’s log procurement practices avoid controversial sources by:
- Excluding logs from illegal sources (i.e. illegal logging).
- Excluding logs from forests with exceptional conservation value.
- Excluding logs originating from the unregulated conversion of forests and other wooded ecosystems to plantations or other non-forestry uses.
- Excluding logs from areas where genetically modified trees are planted.
- Excluding logs from areas that do not comply with Rayonier’s Human Rights Policy.
- Maintaining traceability regarding log origin.
